$1 Billion companies to report GHG in California

California is once again leading the way in environmental action, this time setting a threshold for climate disclosure. A new business regulation requires companies with $1 billion in revenue and presence in California to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions.  SB 253, the Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act, was signed into law in October 2023.  Large companies with an office, warehouse, or retail store in located in California will need to report Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, following the official GHG Protocol. The regulation will first address year 2025 emissions, and will be enforced by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
